- friday -

BEAUTIFUL day. headed out to fairmont to catch the early in-flow of rides at the james dean run. more than i expected for early on a friday. caught some photos. trying to get a few for lounge. met some interesting characters, whom had rides with much more character. i'm still not able to pick out exact years, and its bugging the bajeebs outta me. (note to self.) after day one – this is what i have to say

(1) mercs are hit or miss... more on the miss.
(2) fords had a sexy quality about tham that is so not there anymore
(3) a truck done right is stunning
(4) flat finish adds character
(5) be smart about your stripes
(6) 55 chevy is still one of my favorites
(7) converts still dont do much for me
(8) historic is cool, custom is captivating
(9) don't effin' touch the car doof
(10) i caught slim to none useable photos today

on another note - hope to catch voodoo kings tomorrow in gas city.

its going to beautiful this weekend. hop on I69 and check out the show.

a few random music thoughts

thought i'd take the lead from rock the planet this morning.

00. death magnetic. – had mentioned eariler in my blog the album. that i thought i had a frightening observation about metallica that i wasn't ready to share. i'm glad i didnt. all thoughts of that are gone.... tremendous album. captivating lyrics. dark chonky riffs. snare buzz. ...bass. the growl. chicago 2009 baby!

01. i miss good live djs on the radio. voice tracking is both obvious and causes preset flippage

02. classic.

03. after hearing the news of the plane crash that injured travis barker and dj am friday night, my first thought was that we lose too many people in plane crashes. however,  that was quickly wiped away when 104.1's Amanda Rollen babbles on and says - right out loud - that she doesn't know who perry ferrell is.
...am i just old??

04. theres some intelligent hip hop goin' down in indy as of late. check it.

05. ac/dc. lets round up. $100... seriously??? i'll spin their vinyl collection for free at my house. c'mon over. i'll only charge $25 cover :)

06. dusting off old albums. is a re-experience. try it. im not a fan of greatest hits albums, but the cars greatest hits keeps getting spun.

07. fellow blogger cwade makes mention of this article, and i thought it was worth mentioning. 'America Isn't Very Rock 'N' Roll Anymore' - Duff McKagen

i said a few! :) more to come.

new release babble

i'm not saying that i'm the worlds biggest fan, and i'm not saying that i dont give a shit. what i am saying is that i'm excited for September 12th. yes, i've heard a lot of it, and no, i do not own anymore of it than i got from paying my metallica club dues. today they released the video for the first single. i got chills at one point of it about 2/3 of the way thru and you would have thought i was sitting on the bus, scrunched down with my headphones on listening to puppets back in the day. why the chills? i realized that even though im thirty-something, i'm still overly psyched to go to the record store, the day of release, and purchase the newly distributed album. i wish more people were the same way. sometimes the new technology we have available both amazes and pisses me off at the same time. everyone wants to be the first, everyone has to have it. i can see where the hunt of getting it first may be the same as my anticipation of the purchase... its probably the goody-goody in me, i dunno. (there was one release earlier this year that i was psyched to have and passed on when i got it – but have since deleted it and wont hear it again until i purchase it.... if it ever gets released. saying that, i guess i'm a bit of a goody-goody hypocrite.) i guess its just different ways of looking at things and levels of interpretation. enough soapboxing. just wanted to basically say that i'm excited for the album and disappointed in a lot of people.
